Rollercoaster Tycoon is based around the construction of a theme park. You are the manager, constructor, planner, and handyman organiser, all rolled into one. This game is not the first of its kind as Bullfrog released a very famous game called "Theme Park" a few years ago. This was the first of its kind. Rollercoaster Tycoon is, therefore, the second. But its leadership in this game category is soon to be challenged again by Bullfrogs eagerly awaited "Theme Park Worlds".

In Rollercoaster Tycoon you have to plan your park, supervise you staff and choose which rides will be built. From there you can choose to rely on one of the pre-made rides or create a custom design. This is what makes "Rollercoaster Tycoon" better than Theme Park. It's variety and customisation is almost unlimited. You can make rides as fast or as slow as you wish, as high or as low as you want, but you cannot control what your guests will want. Will they like your ride or not? Will they leap in the air at the end or will they leave a mess on the pavement for your handymen to clear up?
